Four Americans killed at the temporary American consulate/embassy in Libya this week. Mitt Romney — ever the class act — in the midst of the attack, but before the deaths, attacked the President of the United States and condemned the actions of the Obama Administration.
Not exactly what I’d call statesman-like behavior.
Quotes For The Day
I thought I’d share these quotes, (thanks to Andrew Sullivan’s site), from a couple of other Republican politicians, when they were campaigning for the job:
This is the time for us as a nation and a people to stand united.
Ronald Reagan, Republican candidate, after president Carter’s botched mission to save US hostages.
I unequivocally support the president of the United States — no ifs, ands or buts — and it certainly is not a time to try to go one-up politically. He made a difficult, courageous decision.
George H.W. Bush, a candidate at the same time.
And people tell me the GOP hasn’t changed.
Right.
We are all given opportunities — sometimes quite frequently — to demonstrate the nature of our character. For some, humility, temperance and wisdom rise to the surface.
For others?
Not so much.
