Mitt Is Overpaying His Taxes – For Now, by Josh Barro.

“Today, the Romney campaign released a summary of Mitt Romney’s tax returns since 1990 and his 2011 tax return. The most striking part of the announcement is that Romney chose to forego $1.75 million in charitable deductions available to him in 2011 in order to ensure that his tax rate would be at least 13 percent, the estimated level he announced in January.”

Hmmm . . .

In case you weren’t aware, if Mitt Romney loses in November, he can still get all the money back that he spent on last year’s tax overpayment. He simply has to file an amendment to his 2011 taxes.

He can do the same thing if he wins.

Truth be told, I simply can’t imagine the guy who posed for the picture at the top of this post would try to scrabble back nearly two million dollars he overpaid to the IRS during his political campaign, can you?

I mean, really, what’s a few million bucks to this guy?

But — if in some really weird universe where up is down and black is white — and Mr. Romney does decide to file that amendment, nobody except his wife, his banker and the IRS will know.

And . . . if rumors be true . . . God.
